Four Eagles Honored By The Heart

Four Eagles Honored By The Heart

Fayette, Mo. – The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced their All-Conference Teams on Tuesday afternoon. Four players from Central Methodist earned recognition from The Heart. Nicki Noreen (SR/Bartlett, Ill.) was named to the First Team, while Rebecca Steele-Mackey (JR/Wasilla, Alaska), Lady Tiriat (SR/Bogota, Columbia), and Judith Sainz (FR/Pamplona, Spain) earned spots on the Third Team.

"I am very proud of the girls who received the all-conference awards; it is a great accomplishment," said CMU head women's soccer coach Dan Schmidlin. "It shows how good our team is, and we also had several other girls that just missed out. You don't have a 13-3-2 regular season without the whole team contributing in some fashion."

Senior Nicki Noreen had a historic regular season for the Eagles, scoring a program high 16 goals. Noreen scored the game-winning goal five times this season for CMU, and went a perfect 3-for-3 in penalty kicks during the regular season.

Rebecca Steele-Mackey was solid on defense for CMU yet again. She finished the regular season with a goal and four assists. Senior Lady Tiriat appeared and started in all 18 games for CMU at midfield. Tiriat finished the regular season with two goals and four assists. Freshman sensation Judith Sainz took the conference by storm this season. The young forward finished the regular season second on the team in goals scored behind Nicki Noreen. Sainz has scored 15 goals to this point and also has four assists. She has scored the game-winning goal four times for CMU and is a perfect 1-for-1 on penalty kicks this season.

Central will begin play in The Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Postseason Tournament this Friday November 4th at Missouri Valley College. Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 7pm in Marshall.
