DUBUQUE, Iowa – The No. 24 Central Methodist University women's soccer team trekked to Clarke University to continue conference play on Saturday evening.
"I'm very proud of how we responded once we conceded an early goal," said Head Coach Dan Schmidlin. "The girls played a very good second half."
Clarke struck first on a goal from Baylee Seaman with just over ten minutes played. The Eagles answered five minutes later after Judith Sainz (JR/Pamplona, Spain) found the net with a pass from Rachel Topliss (SR/Walsall, England). A goal from Zoe Jessen (FR/League City, Texas) gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage at the intermission.
Sainz scored again at the 50-minute mark, assisted by Anika Kallash (SO/Troy, Mo.). Sara Collobo scored the final goal of the evening, assisted by Michelle Raines (SR/Hawk Point, Mo.), to secure the 4-1 victory.
The win moves Central Methodist 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Clarke drops to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Heart.
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Benedictine College. The game time is set for 5 pm in Atchison, Kan.
