FAYETTE, Mo. – Two goals in the first two minutes of action on Saturday morning set the tone in a dominant victory for the Central Methodist women's soccer team.
The 8-0 margin marks the most goals scored for the Eagles since pouring in 14 against Hannibal-LaGrange on Sept. 9, 2017.
With a remarkable four-goal performance, Anika Kallash (JR/Troy, Mo.) picked up her third straight multi-goal game. Kallash also set a new career-high in goals, surpassing her previous mark of three set against Mount Mercy on Oct. 27, 2018.
Zoe Jessen (SO/League City, Texas) also scored twice for the first multi-goal game of her career. Other goals were put in by Judith Sainz (SR/Pamplona, Spain) and Joana Villanova (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil).
Seven different Eagles pitched in with assists: Sainz, Kallash, Sarah Freiermuth (SR/Blue Springs, Mo.), Nely Martinez (JR/Collado Villalba, Spain), Shelsin Chavez-Miranda (JR/Los Angeles, Calif.), Maria Cervello (FR/Barcelona, Spain), and Andrea Villar (JR/Madrid, Spain).
As a team, Central outshot Bellevue, 22-1. With the victory, the Eagles move to 5-0. Up next is Central's first road test as the team heads to Kansas to take on Bethany on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
