No. 20 Eagles Slide Past Grand View

FAYETTE, Mo. – For the second straight game, the No. 20 Central Methodist women's soccer team dispatched a conference opponent by a score of 2-0, after topping Grand View on Saturday night.

The Eagles took care of the Vikings to run their record to 9-0 to open the season. The Vikings fall to 1-5-1 on the season and 0-2 in league play.

Andrea Villar (JR/Madrid, Spain) netted the first goal of the game in the 11th minute on a tricky free kick that squeaked over the keeper into the top right corner of the box. Nely Martinez (JR/Collado Villalba, Spain) marked the next tally after stealing a ball from a defender in the 75th minute.

The Eagles offense showcased a barrage of threats against the Vikings after launching 23 shots (14 on frame) while the defense held Grand View to just five attempts. Anika Kallash (JR/Troy, Mo.) led the way with 10 tries, followed by Judith Sainz (SR/Pamplona, Spain) who launched four. Sheila Sanchez (FR/Castellon, Spain) earned the win in the box with two crucial saves on the night.

Central will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 25th, to host No. 4 Benedictine College. Match time is set for 5 PM at Davis Field.
