KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The No. 20 Central Methodist University women's soccer program celebrated an undefeated record and a massive upset last week, and Laura Riesenbeck (FR/Beverstedt, Germany) was recognized as the Heart Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in both games.
Riesenbeck played a key role in the CMU defense as she shut down an All-American striker, who currently has 19 goals on the season, in the 2-1 upset over No. 3 Benedictine. Arguably, the most impressive feat was that she kept her assignment from recording a single shot attempt in the game.
Central will return to action on Saturday, October 5th, with a trip to William Penn University. Game time is set to begin at 5 PM in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
