No. 9 Eagles Thump William Penn

No. 9 Eagles Thump William Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – The No. 9 Central Methodist University women's soccer team secured a dominating victory on the road against William Penn University on Saturday evening. One of the most notable feats came by way of a hat trick from not one, but two, Eagles.

Anika Kallash (JR/Troy, Mo.) had an impressive performance that featured four goals and two assists, followed by teammate Judith Sainz (SR/Pamplona, Spain) who had three goals and one assist. Joana Villanova (JR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the final tally of the game in the 84th minute.

Numerous members contributed to the offensive barrage as Laura Riesenbeck (FR/Beverstedt, Germany), Nely Martinez (JR/Collado Villalba, Spain), Elly Boothe (JR/Silex, Mo.), Shelsin Chavez-Miran, Kristen Tarno (FR/Cape Girardeau, Mo.), and Olivia Gonzales (JR/Kirkwood, Mo.) each placed at least one shot on target in the contest.

As a team, Central outshot the Statesmen 35-7 while the swarming defense allowed William Penn just two tries on frame. Sheila Sanchez (FR/Castellon, Spain) collected both attempts for two saves, earning the win in the box. The Eagles move to 12-0 on the season (5-0 Heart) while the Statesmen fall to 4-7 overall (0-5 Heart).

Central will return to action on Wednesday, October 9th, in a home match against Culver-Stockton. Game time is set for 7:30 PM on Davis Field.
