Women's Soccer Remains at No. 8 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Women's Soccer Remains at No. 8 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Kansas City, Mo. - For the second-straight week, the Central Methodist Women's Soccer team remained at No. 8 in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll, announced by the national office Wednesday morning.

Other Heart programs featured or mentioned in the Top 25 include; No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene, No. 25 Missouri Valley, and (RV) Benedictine College.

Central has opened the 2023 campaign with a 4-1-1 record, including a Top 25 win over No. 16 John Brown (Ark.) and draw against No. 24 Campbellsville. In their first six games, the Eagles have scored 20 goals and conceded eight.

Junior Lacey Ann Murray leads the Eagles' offense with five goals scored, followed by Celine Witt and Alicia Zamora with three each.

CMU opens conference play against Mount Mercy University Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
